K in Kortrijk, a brand new shopping centre, recently celebrated its grand opening with a week full of special activities. The eye-catcher was without any doubt the High-Definition building projection on the main tower of the shopping centre. In collaboration with ASP BlueSquare, ACT Lighting Design and Prismax, our audiovisual department used their know-how to realise this project.

On each side of the building, we used 2 Barco HD30 projectors with a Coolux Pandora’s Box server system.

The project encountered two major problems:

  1. We had to create a network between the two locations of the projectors and servers.

    • At the south-side, we had an apartment at our disposal, where 2 projectors were placed towards the building, and where the crew was located to manage the whole set-up.
    • At the east-side, we had to build a 9 meter high tower, leaving us with a 200 meters distance from the apartment.

Thanks to our networking knowledge and experience, we were able to apply the solution that gave the best performance results, at a reasonably low cost.

  2. Furthermore, we had to create a perfect map of the building on the Coolux system. Since every video was created to interact with the building structure, a perfect mapping of the building relief was an absolute requirement.

Take a look at the video below, and see how everything turned out for the best…

Since our last blogpost, we had the opportunity to develop some challenging interactive projects, for major international clients.

Flair Lovebox

In February, around Valentine’s Day, the lifestyle magazine Flair wanted people to record their Valentine wishes and post them on the Flair website. Engage BBDO, the agency that successfully coordinated the entire project, had a specialised contractor build a cosy “lovebox”, in which we installed one of our touch screens and a camera.

The lovebox was a big success. It travelled the country for more than 2 months, making a stop at the major events. Some of the locations on our tour:

  • Gent
  • Hasselt
  • Leuven
  • Brussel
  • Bruxelles City 2
  • Antwerpen
  • Ikea Liège

Using the touch screen, people had to enter their personal details, and were then given the opportunity to record a funny, original or touching message for their partner. The most remarkable recordings were selected, and rewarded with a nice prize.

Flair Lovebox Action

The entire offline activation was linked to an online platform as well. This part of the activation consisted of a form where people could upload their “home-made” messages.

These files were sent to our video server, converted to a filetype suitable for online usage, and passed through to the servers of Flair itself, where every recorded & uploaded video was displayed in a gallery.

Nokia X6 & Ovi Store

For the launch of the brand new Nokia X6, together with the promo campaign for Nokia’s Ovi Store, we developed a retail application, demonstrating the ease of downloading and installing applications from the store.

X6 Touch Totem

The application showed the widgets available in the store, with live data where possible. This whole campaign was deployed in the major phone reselling locations here in Belgium. With a total count of 60 touch screens, visibility was guaranteed. Nokia saw a remarkable increase in downloads on the Ovi Store, making them a happy client.
