Since our last blogpost, we had the opportunity to develop some challenging interactive projects, for major international clients.

Flair Lovebox

In February, around Valentine’s Day, the lifestyle magazine Flair wanted people to record their Valentine wishes and post them on the Flair website. Engage BBDO, the agency that successfully coordinated the entire project, had a specialised contractor build a cosy “lovebox”, in which we installed one of our touch screens and a camera.

The lovebox was a big success. It travelled the country for more than 2 months, making a stop at the major events. Some of the locations on our tour:

Hasselt
Leuven
Brussel

Antwerpen
Ikea Liège

Using the touch screen, people had to enter their personal details, and were then given the opportunity to record a funny, original or touching message for their partner. The most remarkable recordings were selected, and rewarded with a nice prize.

The entire offline activation was linked to an online platform as well. This part of the activation consisted of a form where people could upload their “home-made” messages.

These files were sent to our video server, converted to a filetype suitable for online usage, and passed through to the servers of Flair itself, where every recorded & uploaded video was displayed in a gallery.

Nokia X6 & Ovi Store

For the launch of the brand new Nokia X6, together with the promo campaign for Nokia’s Ovi Store, we developed a retail application, demonstrating the ease of downloading and installing applications from the store.

The application showed the widgets available in the store, with live data where possible. This whole campaign was deployed in the major phone reselling locations here in Belgium. With a total count of 60 touch screens, visibility was guaranteed. Nokia saw a remarkable increase in downloads on the Ovi Store, making them a happy client.

Making a giant interactive ballgame

Earlier this year we accepted quite a challenging project. The making of a Full HD interactive ball throwing game. This huge frame, with dimensions up to 3 meters wide and 1,2 meters high, had to be touch sensitive, stable, vandalism proof, have good contrast/brightness and be Full HD-capable… Oh yeah, and the job had to be done within a 3 week deadline. During summer it was present on every major music festival in Belgium, and about 500 people a day played this quite exciting game.

Here is a quick summary of the development of this challenging project;

First of all we ordered a special protective glass plate with a thickness of 2.5 cm. We had to make sure it was strong enough, so the balls wouldn’t break or damage the glass. The glass has a special anti-reflective coating to optimize the visibility of the projection.

The optical camera touchframe is applied to the front of the glass, but because the optical system is very fragile, we had to make sure the touchscreen camera’s and backlights are well protected from incoming fire.

In this picture we are mounting the Daylight rear projection film on the back of the glass.

In the meanwhile our Flash developers started designing and developing the game. Game development in Adobe Flash on a 1920px *1080px resolution is quite a challenge, a lot of time was spent optimising the graphics and video’s. Because there are so many video’s and animations being rendered at the same time, a quad core machine was used to run this game.

The video’s of the girl in the virtual bar, were shot in our in-house chroma key studio. She constantly interacts with the gamers, to make sure they won’t get bored. The beer and animations are all designed in 3D to give us the freedom of animation.

The combination of the Daylight rear projection film and a Barco full-HD projector gave awesome results. The contrasts are amazing, and are comparable to any lcd screen.

After finalising the Flash game and the screen’s construction, the final results look amazing.

iWindow Nokia shop, Antwerp

For the launch campaign of the new Nokia 5800 XpressMusic we have installed an iWindow interactive window with sound to demonstrate the main functions of this new device.

Bypassers can control the mobile phone by touching the glass. Create Multimedia developed an Adobe Flash application similar to the phone’s interface. You can listen to music, look at maps, browse video’s, photo’s, …

The hardware we used was an iWindow Interactive foil combined with their unique daylight technology. This gave an awesome result, even in bright sunlight!

Furthermore we also use the iWindow through glass sound system, to play music on the street.

Combining audiovisual- hardware with interactive-media-applications is what makes Create Multimedia a unique company.

First Create-d post!

Welcome at our new Create Multimedia Blog!

We figured it was time to create a brand new diary for the Audiovisual and Multimedia world. Since our company started a couple of years ago we have been active in many unique projects. Some really unique projects actually. Stuff that wasn’t really too well documented on the internet. From now on, we will try to save everyone a few headaches, by blogging about and discussing subjects related to our corporate life.

What will be dealt with on this blog? First of all we will be writing quite a bit about PRO Audiovisual gear . Reviews from new equipment we bought, testing several microphones, new edge blending solutions, widescreen projections, digital signage systems, holoscreens & touch solutions,… Our everyday toys… ^^

On the multimedia side of things, our programmers will write about their specialties as well : Adobe Flex, Flash & Air development. Modern technolgy, which is not only used for our online projects, but also for our touchscreen solutions. (cfr. our iWindow)

Last, but certainly not least, we will also showcase some of our most appealing projects, and the people who are behind them.

New media, combined with pro Audiovisuals, that’s what you can expect from this weblog!
